Clinical Excellence
Cleaning Procedures & Infection Control Protocols
Our cleaning programmes are built around the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness and current Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) guidance. Every procedure below is implemented as standard across all medical contracts, with full audit trails available to support your CQC inspection readiness.
Surface Decontamination
All clinical and semi-clinical contact surfaces — including treatment couches, examination tables, work surfaces, door handles and light switches — are decontaminated using hospital-grade, bactericidal and virucidal disinfectants in accordance with manufacturer contact time requirements.
Colour-Coded Equipment System
ProCleanse operatives adhere strictly to the NHS colour-coded cleaning equipment system: red for sanitary areas, blue for general areas, green for food preparation zones, and yellow for isolation areas. This prevents cross-contamination between clinical zones and is rigorously enforced at all sites.
High-Touch Point Sanitisation
A structured high-touch point schedule ensures that frequently contacted surfaces — including reception counters, door furniture, telephone handsets, computer keyboards, handrails and patient call systems — are sanitised at defined intervals throughout the working day to minimise the risk of pathogen transmission.
Washroom & Sanitary Hygiene
Patient-facing washrooms and staff facilities are cleaned and disinfected to eliminate HAI risk, including thorough sanitation of WCs, hand basins, taps, soap dispensers and waste receptacles. Washroom consumable levels are monitored and replenished as part of the service. All waste is removed and disposed of in compliance with HTM 07-01 guidance.
Clinical Waste Segregation
Our operatives are trained in the correct segregation of clinical, offensive and domestic waste in accordance with the Health Technical Memorandum HTM 07-01. Correct waste stream management is documented and monitored as part of our site compliance records, ensuring your practice meets its duty-of-care obligations at all times.
Cleaning Audits & Documentation
We maintain comprehensive cleaning records, site logs and COSHH data sheets at all medical premises. Scheduled cleaning audits are carried out by our supervisors, and all findings — including corrective actions — are documented and made available to your practice or quality manager. This evidence base directly supports your CQC inspection framework.
Trained & Vetted Operatives
Every ProCleanse operative undertaking medical cleaning work holds current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance and has completed accredited infection prevention and control training. Staff are also briefed on patient confidentiality obligations and are required to adhere to your practice’s own protocols and policies at all times.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Appropriate PPE — including disposable gloves, aprons and, where risk-assessed, face coverings — is worn at all times within clinical areas and changed between zones to prevent cross-contamination. PPE usage is aligned with current Public Health England and UKHSA guidance and forms part of our mandatory induction for all medical cleaning staff.
Periodic Deep Cleaning
In addition to routine daily cleaning, ProCleanse delivers scheduled periodic deep cleans that address areas requiring more intensive attention: air vents, ceiling fixtures, skirting boards, behind and beneath clinical equipment, and soft furnishings in waiting areas. Deep cleans are carried out outside clinical hours and are fully documented for your audit records.
